ATTENTION US TRAVELLERS: We continue to receive lots of inquiries about the updated travel rules for dogs travelling to the U.S. that take effect on August 1, 2024. You can find the most up-to-date information about the new dog rules on the CFIA website.
Routine blood testing for dogs is crucial for monitoring and recognizing health problems early.
South Burnaby Veterinary Hospital has two options for blood testing. If immediate results are needed, we offer a wide range of on-site laboratory tests to provide answers, so that we can start appropriate treatment for your pet right away. We also work together with the team at Idexx Laboratories for non-urgent lab testing or more specialized tests that may be required to help care for your pet. You can rest assured that our team is working hard to provide accurate results that will help us attend to your pet’s health.
Many common blood tests allow our veterinarians to assess your dog’s overall health. Whether your dog is healthy, about to undergo anesthesia, or not feeling well, blood tests are a non-invasive option that allows for quick assessment of the major organ systems. Routine testing can allow us to catch many common health conditions before they begin to impact your dog’s health, helping us to help him or her live a long and healthy life.
Our veterinarians will interpret your dog’s results and discuss them with you, either in person or on the phone. Should you have further questions, our team will be happy to help.
